I don’t like beating up on the church because it is a place where people can come and worship. Yet, of those that I have visited, they aren’t that. They are business’ disguised as a temple of praise. They are dens of judgement and not open homes. They are “monkey see, monkey do” copycats. Obviously (and hopefully), not every church is like that but it could be the majority.
As I was meditating on God and marveling at, yet again, things He has done in my life I realized that He has done more for me outside of church than when I was active in it. Now much of that has changed because my focus changed. I used to look for the church to fill me and it never could. The only thing that fills me with life is “every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).” My PERSONAL relationship with God has increased immensely and I have seen miracles happen right in front of my eyes.
If miracles can happen one on one, why is it so wrong to expect to see God move miraculously in a corporate environment? It shouldn’t be but I don’t see anything happen on Sunday. We say His name yet He doesn’t seem to answer. We sing His praises yet He doesn’t dance with us. Whom are we entertaining? Ourselves? Newcomers?
Please church, turn around! Invite the Father, Son and Spirit to sunday, I promise you will leave changed! When They show up nothing can stay the same. Until then, I will keep finding Him elsewhere. I don’t have to look far because “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me why you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and places to which I have banished you, declares the Lord (Jeremiah 29: 11-14).” I have seen Him searching for the lost, broken, judged, crushed, dead, asleep and weeping out in the world and I can only want more of Him when I see the healing He does.
I need to find my God ‘cause I haven’t seen Him.
He must be lost wandering that wilderness.
Made a wrong turn crossing the Jordan?
He hasn’t been to church in a long while.
People haven’t left changed ‘cause they look the same on Monday.

He must be ignoring all my calls.
Did He not get my texts?
He hasn’t talked to the church in a minute.
Prayers for full pews and heavy pockets get mixed up with the mail.
I need to find my God cause I haven’t seen Him.
He must be out partying all the time.
Hitting up all those clubs?
He hasn’t danced with the church for a beat.
Praise just seems to thump to the beat of a dead drum.
Have you seen my God?
Let me describe and put out the BOLO.
He is of indescribable height, capable of hanging the stars in the sky.
He is of immeasurable strength, capable of moving mountains.
His hearing is sharp to hear my muffled sobs in the night.
His vision is clear and cuts to my heart’s needs.
Have you seen my God?
The God I know doesn’t fit in a church, ‘cause when He comes, the doors blow off.
Have you seen my God?
The God I know can’t hide from me because He wants to be found.
Since His presence hasn’t been seen, I will check the gutters.
I will look in the office spaces and barracks rooms.
I know He has been there because that’s where He found me.
