Psalms 45:3-5(NLT) “Put on your sword, O mighty warrior! You are so glorious, so majestic! In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds! Your arrows are sharp, piercing your enemies’ hearts. The nations fall beneath your feet.”

World events have shattered our orderly lives, and we cannot find the off button on the dizzily speeding merry go round. As we try to face forward and put this behind us someone pushes the hyper speed button and throws in some horror movie scenes. As we are trying to find solid safe ground to plant our wobbly legs we need to stop looking down. Lift our weary eyes and strain through the Sahara dust storm to the One who holds all things in His hands.

Scripture posted here is still as true as the moment it was written down by the scribe. He is that same God. Not one thing has faltered or changed in His character or promises. Not just daily but multiples times a day we need to remind ourselves and refocus as the myriad of arrows try to slay us.

A fellow missionary was struggling with a church situation. She had been wrestling with this issue for months and could not seem to get direction, strategy, or clarity. We pray together and have been provoking each other in the Spirit to a deeper walk and understanding. As soon as she said this, I heard the word piercing.

Pierce means to puncture, penetrate, or perforate. It is an invasive term. In the action of piercing blood or body fluids are disturbed and often spill forth. Something or someone crossed your boundary and came into your space and interrupted the body’s normal routine.

I saw the Lord taking a spear and piercing her in the right upper quadrant of her abdomen. I saw the spear passing through quite a bit of adipose(fatty) tissue (I am a nurse, hence these terms). It was going for the liver. A blood rich organ that takes care of a lot of junk and toxins in the blood of our bodies. As soon as I shared what I saw she knew what it was and what to do. He gave her clarity, understanding, and strategy.

God does the piercing, but He also allows the enemy to pierce for different reasons. Many of us have felt intense piercing in this season. When we put ourselves in the hand of a skilled surgeon and go under the knife, we trust the doctor. He plans and picks a team to take you from pain, sickness, and wounds to a place of wholeness, health, and pain free. Trust God in this season that the piercing whether at His hand or from the assault of the enemy the Great Physician will bring us through.

Jesus was pierced in His side as He hung on the cross. His physical body already dead. God noted that His son was pierced. In Revelations 1:7 it says when Jesus will come and appear with the clouds of heaven those who pierced Him will see Him. Even after thousands of years later the mind of God has not forgotten every piercing we received. He knows every scar on our body for He counts every hair.

Many are in pain and trying to recover from piercings- deep or shallow they have perforated our existence. Take heart and take courage. Already He is riding out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Help is on the way. As we wait for His arrival and the manifestation of His presence in the fight with us let us go forth and do awesome exploits in His name.

Arrows He carries are so sharp and while being fashioned piercing the hearts of our mutual enemies was in His thoughts. When the heart is pierced there is extraordinarily little chance of survival. Even with piercings on this shell we call a body as we ride with courage alongside Him the nations are falling beneath our feet.

No matter what your governor is decreeing, or your President is declaring The King of Kings and Lord of Lord will have the last word. He has already mounted up on His horse. He is throwing His head back and a loud roar is emitting that will pierce the deepest sea and every ancient root that has opposed Him. Selah!
