The Heart of God

The Heart of God; a phrase I have heard many times before. I could probably describe it using oft-said phrases that, while accurate do not do it justice. Those phrases would be, “God is love, God is merciful, God is just,” and so on to name a few. Hearing those words and knowing them intellectually is nothing compared to actually feeling it. Today I had an encounter where for the first time I felt the Lord’s heart and it was like nothing I had ever felt before. I will do my best to describe it to you, but I fear I will fall short.

I was taking my time with the Lord today, Wednesday January 6, 2021 and for those who may not be aware of it this is a very significant day in the fight for our nation. Today the US Congress meets to certify or reject the electoral college votes from the individual states. If certified than the winner is the next president. If it is rejected, well I am not entirely sure. We may have a recount, or possible need to vote again.

God very much has a vested interest in this election. It’s not about the party or even the man in office but rather whether the polices of heaven or the policies of hell are allowed to rule our nation for the next four years or more. This election has exposed just how bad the corruption was in our nation, on all sides. If you believe that one side or the other is entirely in the right, you are fooling yourself and only yourself. Both sides have shown they have people who are corrupt and are willing to go along with the fraud and corruption.

I’ve laid that out so everyone knows what is going on and why His heart feels what it did today. While listening the “America’s Anthem” by Rachel Shafer I suddenly and intensely began to weep while singing along with it. Very specifically I began to cry when I sang the chorus of the song. The chorus goes like this, “Liberty, Freedom, Truth, we call this nation back to you. Your destiny is to be a light, no walls of hatred to divide. We are one nation with one God”

As a video game character I enjoy once said, “Listen to those words, those are truth words!” This is what God wants for our nation and indeed all nations. We need only look around us to see how it falls short and has been and is being perverted or subverted. With that in mind is it any wonder why God’s heart is broken? He sees us and He weeps for us for He knows what we could be; He can see it as clearly as He can see us as we are now.

I didn’t know it was coming; I hadn’t even asked for God to show me His heart. I was just trying to do my part of warring in the spirit for our nation when suddenly and intensely I am overwhelmed and begin crying. It has been happening in waves and yet I would not stop it. There is a warmth and intimacy I have never felt with Him before. It is comforting despite the tears.

I can also feel His love for us all, not just the United States but for every single person on the Earth. It is so much more than I can ever describe with words, but it easily encompasses every person and so much more. There is also a purity to the love that we cannot match. We talk about unconditional love and that is true but feels so limiting saying it after experiencing it. When in His heart and you see people you cannot see the bad, just feel the love He has for them. It’s a whole new perspective.

Father I pray for those reading this who may not have had the experience of feeling the Father’s heart so directly. Father give them this experience; open their hearts and spirits to be able to receive this gift Father. And Father may we not take this for granted, may we not seek it in religious leaders or icons but Father may we cherish it, grow from it and seek it by seeking you and only you. Amen.
