There is a saying in the military: Complacency Kills. It is often repeated in combat situations because the enemy can strike and kill at a moments notice. If you are not prepared at all times then disaster has an opportunity to strike.
I went to a viewing and funeral for my wife’s Grandfather. He believed in God and was active in his church and his community. They recounted his many acts of service and his love for his children. I felt very “out of place” because he was not a blood relative of mine, yet my heart was weeping inside. A lot of the sadness was for my wife and her pain. It wasn’t until that night that I realized where the rest of the pain came from.
Much of the blessings God has for us will be passed down through the generations. What the father carries the burden will pass to the son. Yet, sometimes, the Mission that the Father has called us to remains largely unfulfilled due to our desire to use our free will and seek comforts instead of what God wants for our lives. Upon death, those mantles will fall to the ground and stay there if they are not picked up by the following generations.
This was why I was grieved in my Spirit. To ensure that her grandfather’s mantle does not fall to the ground and remain there, my wife declared before God that her and her bloodline would carry the mantle and fulfill anything that her grandfather had been assigned to complete and see it through for the Kingdom. My hope is that someone else in the lineage will, also, pick up the mantle. My hope is that we will not let complacency and comfort dictate whether or not we pick up our family’s mantle and carry it. Complacency kills all need for God and does not put Him in his rightful place.
COMPLACENCY KILLS
Complacency Kills and it’s the children that weep.
Generations wiped out and others undone.
In our pride the enemy has come to call
And we let in the wolf dressed as a sheep.
Complacency robs and it’s the children made poor.
Stolen is their inheritance and sold are their souls.
Our trust was misplaced as the wolf turns on us
They salt our land and poison our well.
Complacency lies to those left unarmed.
Tales of success, power, comfort and ease.
Lulled by sweet words and a charmed smile,
Failing to see the fangs in the jaws of the wolf.
Where are those preparing their offspring?!
Who are the ones that were to watch the walls?
Cry out all you peoples who have fallen asleep!
Rise up for your inheritance has been taken!
So many mantles and few to carry the weight.
Redeem our blood, O Father, let none waste away!
I weep at the burden but heed your quiet call.
Your Will need done so done it shall be.
I will be your watcher and set a new time.
We will right the wrongs and secure our inheritance.
The land will be cleansed and the well spring up hope!
For You are on your throne and Thy will be done.
