Unplug and Reset
By: Hannah S. Hunter
Psalms 121:1-4(Passion) “I look up to the mountains and hills, longing for God’s help. But then I realize that our true help and protection come only from the Lord, our Creator who made the heavens and the earth. He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall. God is my keeper; he will never forget nor ignore me. He will never slumber nor sleep. He is the Guardian-God for his people, Israel.”
When we lose power, and at times it is a daily occurrence, I find the quickest and best reset to the internet is to disconnect everything from the main electric source. Wait about one minute and boom we are in business again.
In Kenya I do not have many of the amenities I enjoy in USA. No fan, no AC, no refrigerator, no microwave, no washing machine, and no dryer. I do have a computer and I love to keep good music- worship to Credence- or a good teaching going. When that goes off my world is silent. I realize even if my computer is off internet waves continue to bombard us.
Much has been taken from us in this pandemic. Yet no one can take us from our dreaming with God and going in the spirit to a place of intimacy, quiet, and peace.
Elul is the Hebrew month we are in. It struck me the three foci all have to do with intimacy and healing. The King is now in the field accessible to us in the harvest season. The king himself disconnects from the protocol and heavy duty of the worlds troubles and draws near to his people. We take stock and repair the brokenness in us. Acronym of Elul in Hebrew means I am my beloved and my beloved is mine. Intimacy and silence is the comfort of mature love.
For such a time as this His mercy has drawn us aside. Oh, how we fight as we see so many things, we worked decades for or plans- long range and short term- dissipate with not even a gasp. My schedule had exotic places like Eswatini, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda written on it. My passport would have been the envy of most travel agents.
Life in Africa can feel restrictive to an independent American woman on our best days. Take curfew, lock down, and threats and now you either see it as imprisonment or a disconnect and reset. With no way home and uncertainty of exit from this land you realize afresh the God of your creation has your GPS. The journey is His and the process is for your promotion in His vineyard.
Kicking against the pricks is something we do so well. If we continue, we will injure our feet or legs at best or fracture something and miss what He wants us to accomplish. His plan was not what we even wanted to entertain. Admit it this is mostly true!
So, I dusted myself off, put on my big girl pants, and strapped on my sword. I began to survey who was left standing with me. I found some unmined precious gems I would otherwise have overlooked or felt I did not time to polish and smooth out rough edges.
Ungodly agendas and neglect of some of our most precious resources released them to us, the servants, carriers of truth, and warriors unto the most High God. Our children now can be taught “on the job training.” What we thought we would wait to give them until they were older or graduated from school is now a crash course. It will not only save them but propel them to a suddenly of God’s design and timing.
Teaching certificates are not needed. Heeding and hearing the Holy Spirit is. When He puts someone in front of you everything you need will flow through you and be at your disposal.
Eight, six, and three are the ages of Dan’s children, my grandbabies. As we walk in the morning and learn about nature around us, I inquire of what dreams are they having, where do they see angels, and what did Jesus look like? This helps them tap into the realm of the supernatural and learn to dream and interact with the Godhead with ease. Sometimes they can draw me amazing pictures complete with facial expression.
Fast forward to the ministry students who either have dormant diplomas or education was abruptly interrupted. Questions to me was how long do we wait? Not even sure what we are waiting for. Young people have the hormones and strength to leap readily over walls. As we wait and go deeper into an intangible
place things begin to crystalize, and we burst into a dimension where we realize we are arriving at our destiny by a detour we did not even see.
Today as you read this, pause, and take inventory. The Hebrew New Year is almost here. I think with that disconnect, reset, pausing and taking inventory you will suddenly burst into praise at His infinite wisdom and getting you to a place you saw no path to six months ago. Rejoice and savor this day with Him.
